Candidate Screening

  • Define formation evaluation problems and objectives
  • Establish reservoir properties (rock, fluids)
  • Estimate NMR fluid properties
  • Establish NMR suitability

Data Processing

  • Process raw echoes (time and T2 domain)
  • Analyze T2 distributions
  • Verify "direct" NMR answer products
  • Calculate "indirect" NMR answer products

Core NMR Analysis

  • Establish T1 and T2 distributions
  • Verify porosity measurement
  • Develop reservoir models (BVI, K)
  • Establish minimum TW value

Data Interpretation

  • Determine NMR interpretation model (BVI, K, DSM, SSM, EDM, DIFFAN, TDA)
  • Calculate pore volume composition (free fluid, bound fluid)
  • Calculate ØT, Øe, Vclay, BVI, BVW, Sw, Swirr, HPV, K, N/G, T2-bin distribution, water cut (when Kr established)

Job Planning

  • Estimate borehole, formation fluid and rock properties (Rm, Rw, temp., pressure, viscosity, H.I., T1, T2, Ø, N/G)
  • Optimize logging parameters (frequency, TW, TE, N, D a , Øh , logging speed )
  • Establish job activation (CTP, SWT, DWT, DTE)
  • Integrate derived NMR core models

Petrophysical Calculations

  • Integration of open-hole log data, production test data, and core data
  • Calculation of clay volumes and types independent of log picks
  • Calculation of total and effective porosity independent of lithology
  • Calculation of Sw independent of resistivity (Rw) measurements
  • Calculation of custom permeability
  • Estimation of reservoir textural properties

Final Calculations

  • Calculation of pore volume composition (Vclay, Øe, FFI, HPV, moveable water, BVI)
  • T2 distribution (bin, waveform, vdl, diff. spectrum, shifted spectrum, T2DW) (case study #1)
  • Derived K and BVI calibrated values (case study #2)
  • Annotate the log with production, test, geologic, and core information as defined by the customer

Summation reports

  • Spreadsheet presentation includes
  1. Weight averaged effective porosity and Sw
  2. Gross, Net and Pay Sand counts
  3. Cumulative HPV and K feet
  • Sensitivity analysis, select "cutoffs" for Vshale, K, Sw, and PHIE
  • Summations by well and zone
  • Output data in Customer defined media. (i.e. Diskette, CD Rom,etc.)
